“My eight year old didn’t want to spend time learning a musical instrument. Like most children he was very content gaming. But after his seventh month in piano he very excitedly told me “piano has changed my life”. He glows with accomplishment. It is hard for me to articulate; but in addition to learning an instrument it has turned on a switch in him. He plays with his piano like one of his action figures, multitasking through the night. He doesn’t sit down for a forced alloted 30 minutes. He digs through youtube showing me his favorite pieces and when he loves something takes the initiative to learn it outside of his class.
